Can I govern myself before I try to lead anyone else?
Discipline, habits, health, friendships, digital life, choices and the everyday practices that shape the man you become.
A Seguah gathering
What kind of man will the next generation meet?
A proposed Seguah gathering for young men aged 15–35 to think honestly about responsibility, character, work, relationships, family, spirituality and the kind of influence they will have on the generation coming after them.
Why this gathering
The next generation is already watching us. The way we work, build relationships, use power, handle money, respond to failure, raise children and serve our communities becomes part of the world they inherit. This gathering creates a room for young men to ask better questions about who they are becoming — not to perform an idea of manhood, but to grow into men who can be trusted.
The conversations
We want to move beyond slogans about being a “real man”. The conversation is about character, capability, relationships, responsibility and the life a man chooses to build.
Can I govern myself before I try to lead anyone else?
Discipline, habits, health, friendships, digital life, choices and the everyday practices that shape the man you become.
Can I create value for myself and others?
Work ethic, career, enterprise, money, business ethics, technology, failure and building something useful.
What does strength look like when you have power?
How we treat women, children, parents, friends, colleagues, people who disagree with us and people with less power.
What kind of man am I becoming for others?
Fatherhood, marriage, being a son and brother, responsibility, communication, presence, care and dependable relationships.
What is strong enough to govern me when nobody is watching?
Faith, meaning, integrity, values, purpose, service and the convictions that shape how a man chooses to live.
What will be stronger because I was here?
Leadership, community, mentoring younger men, serving others and leaving something useful for the people who come after us.
The idea
Examine the habits, values and choices shaping your life.
Develop the capability to work, create, provide and contribute.
Learn to treat people with dignity, honesty and respect.
Use what you have to make life better for someone coming after you.
Who it is for
What it is not
This is not a competition between men and women, a celebration of dominance or a performance of toughness.
It is about responsibility, emotional maturity, respect, capability, purpose and becoming a man other people can trust.
Early interest
We are shaping the idea now. Tell us a little about yourself and the conversations you would want to have. Your response will help Seguah understand whether there is a real community around this gathering.
Showing interest is not registration. There is no confirmed date or venue yet.
The question we leave with
Every generation has something to give.
