An intergenerational collaboration exploring how experience, knowledge, digital participation, mentorship and social connection can continue moving between generations.
WHY THIS RELATIONSHIP MATTERS
Retirement does not end a person's capacity to contribute.
Menyin begins with the belief that older adults should not be understood only as people who need support. They also carry experience, professional knowledge, stories, judgment and practical wisdom that remain valuable to younger generations and to community life.
At the same time, younger people carry knowledge, skills and perspectives of their own. Digital confidence, changing technologies and new ways of communicating are areas where younger generations can also support older adults.
The relationship between Seguah Africa Initiative and the University of Ghana Pensioners Association provides a practical setting for this two-way exchange.

THE MENYIN APPROACH
Participation, not tokenism.
Menyin does not approach older adults simply as beneficiaries. Participation should recognise their agency, experience and continuing capacity to shape communities.
Likewise, younger participants are not present simply to provide assistance. They enter the relationship as learners, contributors and future stewards of knowledge they may one day pass forward themselves.
The objective is therefore not simply to bring generations into the same room, but to create useful relationships between them.
